SUNDAY SCHOOL
Adult Sunday School
Faith & Service
As John Wesley taught, “There is no holiness but social holiness.” Our faith naturally calls us to serve others — yet many of us struggle to know where to begin. This class will use The Book of Resolutions—a collection of more than 200 topics adopted by the United Methodist General Conference—as a springboard for discussion and discernment on real-world issues like civility, immigration, aging, reproductive healthcare, and environmental stewardship. Each week, participants will read and reflect on a selected topic, then gather to share perspectives and consider questions such as:
- Do we agree with the discussion of the topic that appears in the Book of Resolutions?
- What aspects of the topic have relevance for our congregation?
- What actions should our ministry consider on the topic?
Together, we’ll explore how to live out our Methodist belief that faith and service are inseparable — discovering fresh ways to make a difference in our community and beyond. The success of Faith & Service depends on bringing together a wide mix of voices from our church. The more perspectives we have, the richer our conversations will be. Jack Pearce is the coordinator of the Faith & Service ministry.
